THIS POLL HAS NOW EXPIRED - NGĀ A MIHI TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO TOOK PART
Kia ora! A law is currently being proposed in Parliament to let District Health Boards decide whether fluoride should be put in water, specifically water supplied by local councils to thousands of homes and other dwellings throughout the country. District Health Boards believe fluoride in drinking water is “the single-most important initiative to improve dental health, particularly child dental health.” For many years, the Māori Party has been reluctant to support such a move because we believe we should not be taking the autonomy away from local councils and communities to decide whether they have fluoride in their water or not. However, we are also aware of the high number of children, particularly Māori children, who have poor dental health. We want to hear from people whose homes are hooked up to council water supplies. Tell us what you think. For more information about the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Bill 2016 click here
